Schools & Colleges

SolutionSim supports Sustainability Education at Secondary and Sixth Form level.

Many schools are now committed to integrating Sustainability into the curriculum and incorporating it into Co-Curricular activities. The schools licence price is the same as for our Investing Simulations.

The resource also supports several elements of the A Level Geography syllabus.

Synoptic Themes

Theme 1: Players

“Who are the different players (individuals, groups and organisations, stakeholders) involved in geographical issues and decisions (interdependence, globalisation, systems)? Why do some players have greater influence than others (inequality)? This includes: intergovernmental organisations, national and local government, large and small private businesses, transnational corporations.”

Theme 2: Attitudes & Actions

“…priority given to profit, importance of social justice and equality and attitudes towards the natural environment (conservation and sustainability versus exploitation).”

From Aims and Objectives

“..improve their understanding of the ways in which values, attitudes and circumstances have an impact on the relationships between people, place and environment, and develop the knowledge and ability to engage, as citizens, with the questions and issues arising”

“..develop a deep understanding of both physical and human processes, applying this understanding to interrogate people–environment interactions and people–place connections at all scales from local to global”

Relevant topics

Globalisation: “Recognising that both tensions in communities and pressures on environments are likely, will help players implement sustainable solutions.”

Global Development and Connections: “Progress against the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been mixed in terms of individual countries, global regions and targets; the UN post2015 development agenda expands on the MDGs, setting new goals to include sustainable development.”
